Dave has been a good friend and colleague in the 30 or more years I've known him.  We did a
lot of research together. He was a very good mathematician and teacher and was always helpful and encouraging.

When we had a problem understanding the research data, he always said that if you spread it all out on the floor
in front of you you will be enlightened, so we would spread all the graphs, tables, algorithms all over the office
floor - enlightened?  No, usually we were just confused but it was a laugh - such is life.
 
I miss our chats, Wii games, outings for Pub lunches and walks we had a lot of laughs and fun.
